Terms of Service
Last updated: May 27, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and GlowReader ("we", "us") governing your use of the GlowReader mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use GlowReader
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. GlowReader is designed for children aged roughly 5–12 to use under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or teacher (the "accountholder"). The accountholder is solely responsible for everything that happens on the account, including any use by minors they permit.
You must provide accurate and current information when registering, and keep your password confidential. If you suspect unauthorised access, notify us immediately at [email protected].
2. What the Service does
GlowReader allows you to photograph a printed book page; our software extracts the text, reads it aloud with synchronised word highlighting, and offers AI-generated explanations of individual words on tap. It is a reading companion, not a curriculum, certification, or substitute for professional educational guidance.
3. Subscription plans and billing
GlowReader offers a free tier with monthly usage limits and a paid "Pro" tier billed monthly or annually. Current pricing is shown in the app and at glowreader.app/pricing. Prices are listed in Indian Rupees (INR) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Recurring billing: paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) using your saved Razorpay payment method, until you cancel.
- Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription → Cancel Subscription. After cancelling you keep paid-tier benefits through the end of the period you already paid for; you are then moved to the free tier.
- Failed renewal: if a renewal payment fails, we will retry for up to 7 days. If it still fails, your account reverts to the free tier.
- Price changes: we may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the new price takes effect.
4. Refund policy
Subscription payments are generally non-refundable once a billing period has begun, because the service has been delivered. However, we will issue a refund in the following cases:
- Duplicate charge — if you were billed more than once for the same period, the duplicate is refunded in full.
- Service unavailable — if the Service was inaccessible for an extended period (more than 72 hours continuously) within a paid billing period, you may request a pro-rated refund for the unusable days.
- Charged after cancellation — if you were billed after a confirmed cancellation, the charge is refunded in full.
To request a refund, email [email protected] from your registered address within 7 days of the charge. Refunds are processed via the original payment method within 7–10 business days of approval.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload images that are illegal, infringe copyright (other than personal use of legitimately-owned books), or contain content inappropriate for children.
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any person.
- Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or circumvent our security controls, rate limits, or subscription tiers.
- Resell or commercially redistribute the Service or any audio, text, or imagery it generates without our written permission.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service outside of normal app/web usage.
Violation may result in immediate suspension or termination without refund.
6. Your content; our content
Your content. The page images you upload remain your property (or that of the original copyright holder of the book). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process those images solely to deliver the Service to you (OCR, read-aloud, coach explanation, storage in your library). We do not use your uploaded content to train AI models. We do not display your content to other users.
Our content. The GlowReader name, logo, app interface, audio narration, and AI explanations are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use them solely through the Service. You may not extract, copy, republish, or commercialise them outside the Service.
7. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (Google Cloud Vision, Sarvam AI, AWS, Razorpay, Resend), each governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or changes in those providers, though we will work to restore service promptly if any of them fails.
8. AI-generated explanations
Word explanations are produced by an AI model and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or culturally insensitive despite our best efforts to keep them child-appropriate. Treat them as a starting point, not a definitive source. If you encounter an offensive or wrong explanation, please report it at [email protected].
9. Account termination
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us. Deletion is handled per our Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these Terms (illegal use, fraud, abuse of staff, repeated violation of acceptable-use rules) with notice where reasonable and immediately where required.
- On termination, your right to use the Service ends; clauses relating to ownership, liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution survive.
10. Service availability and changes
We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. For material changes that reduce paid-tier functionality, we will give at least 30 days' email notice and offer a pro-rated refund if you choose to cancel.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties — express or implied — that the Service will meet your specific requirements, be free of errors, or produce particular learning outcomes for any child. Reading progress depends on many factors beyond the Service.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or ₹2,000, whichever is greater). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages including lost profits, data loss, or reputational harm.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or other applicable Indian law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense arising from (a) your breach of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law or third-party right, including copyright in the materials you photograph, or (c) misuse of the Service by anyone using your account.
14. Children
You confirm that any child using your account does so under your active supervision and with your consent to our processing of the data they help generate (such as photos of pages they choose to scan). We do not market to or profile children. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify accountholders by email at least 7 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will first be addressed through good-faith email negotiation with our support team. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at [your registered city — fill in before launch].
17. Contact
